TUTORIALS
SBBD 2025 invites the submission of tutorial proposals. Each tutorial will be presented in up to 3 hours. We will consider proposals for both introductory and advanced tutorials on database topics or related areas (e.g., Data Science, Data-Centric AI). The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, those described at https://sbbd.org.br/2025/call-for-papers/.
Introductory tutorials should target an audience composed of advanced undergraduate and graduate students, as well as industry participants. In this context, tutorials can be considered as “refresher courses,” although they should not cover traditional “textbook topics.” Advanced tutorials, on the other hand, should cover the state of the art of a topic, motivating and exposing possible research questions.
Instructions for Authors
Tutorial proposals should not exceed 5 pages, using Times New Roman, 12 pt font, and must include the following items (in this order):
- Tutorial title, full names of the authors, affiliations, emails, and URLs of their home pages (if available).
- If the proposed tutorial has been presented before, indicate the event where it was presented and how it will be updated and improved for SBBD 2025.
- Tutorial type (introductory or advanced).
- Target audience and its presumed background.
- The language in which the tutorial will be presented (English or Portuguese).
- A summary (maximum of 100 words) describing the main objective of the tutorial.
- Tutorial outline (list of topics and a brief description of how they will be covered).
- A list of up to 10 related references.
- A brief biography of the authors (up to 20 lines per author).
- Name of the presenter(s) if the tutorial is proposed by more than one author. Authors may share the presentation, meaning more than one author can present the tutorial.
- Required audiovisual equipment (e.g., multimedia projector and computing resources).
Submission Guidelines
Tutorial proposals can be written in Portuguese or English. Submissions in English are strongly encouraged. Submitted proposals will be evaluated based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.
Tutorial proposals must be sent by email as PDF attachments to eduardo.almeida@ufpr.br. The email subject should be: “Tutorial Session SBBD 2025”. Please use this subject line to help the coordinator filter relevant messages. Submissions in formats other than PDF will not be accepted.
